Preparing for a STEM-Literate Future.

Fellowships and Internships

CISE and NIA provide fellowships and internships for teachers and students to work collaboratively with award-winning educators on staff and scientists and engineers at NIA and NASA.

Teacher Fellowships:

EIR: NIA’s Educator in Residence program advances STEM literacy and policy, develops integrative STEM content and resources for classrooms, and provides teacher training and professional development via a train-the-trainer model.  Our EIRs are on the front-line of connecting real world STEM applications to teachers and classrooms.

Missions and Businesses:

Consider sponsoring the work of an EIR for a one- or two-year rotation to jump-start STEM educational reform within your school community.

School Districts and Leaders:

Find out how a teacher from your school district could apply for an EIR Fellowship and become a bridge between your school system and CISE, integrating authentic STEM learning experiences directly with your school district initiatives.

Student Internships:

High school students learn through hands-on summer mentorships.

VA Summer Residential Governor’s School: The Summer Residential Governor’s Mentorship in Engineering offers students classroom and laboratory work, field studies, research, individual and group projects and seminars with noted scholars and other professionals.  Students are selected to work side-by-side with research scientists at NASA Langley and NIA.
